Week of September 1 – 4

What an awesome first week of school!!  I loved meeting new students and their families as well as seeing familiar ones from last year.   School is off to a great start!  On Friday, September 4, 4th graders will have their first spelling test over Journeys Lesson 1 words:  blade, gray, past, afraid, magic, delay, amaze, drain, maybe, break, sale, hang, stain, glass, raft, jail, crayon, fact, stale, and steak.  You may access these words on my Spellingcity.com account from the link on my blog to practice and play spelling games.  Be sure to study!  I’m expecting lots of 100s!

 

WELCOME BACK!

I hope you had a wonderful summer break and are excited about beginning 4th grade soon!  My summer has been restful, relaxing,  and enjoyable, so I am ready for school to start.  I can’t wait to meet my new students Thursday!  Come to meet your 4th grade teachers from 4:30 – 5:30.  Get ready to have a terrific year in 4th grade learning many new things and having interesting experiences.

SPECIAL EVENTS THIS WEEK

What an exciting, educational week we have planned for our 4th graders!  I know they will enjoy every minute of it.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

WEDNESDAY – 4th Grade Field Day – Parents are invited to watch events on field from football stands.  Parents may take students home after field day.  If students plan to stay, they should bring dry clothes.  Please send sunscreen, a towel, and a water bottle.

THURSDAY – Field trip to Jefferson, Texas.  Students should bring a sack lunch and drink.  Permission forms must be turned in for students to be able to leave school.  Students will be taking a wagon ride around town as well as a boat ride along the bayou.  Cost for these activities is $9.50.  We will be able to shop in a General Store and a Fudge shop if your child wants to bring along extra spending money.

FRIDAY – Field Trip to Penick Park.  Please bring a sack lunch and drink as well as a water bottle as we plan to stay until around 1:30.  Students will rotate through several science stations.  Mr. LeBeau, a wildlife biologist, Mr. Allen Smith, an entomologist, Mr. Michael Gras, and Texas Forest Service will be presenting lessons. 

 

WEEK OF APRIL 28 – MAY 2

WEEK OF MARCH 31 – APRIL 4

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY 4th GRADERS TAKE THE WRITING STAAR TESTS.

TO PREPARE FOR THE DAYS OF TESTING, WE ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP.

ALSO, THEY MAY BRING AN UNOPENED WATER BOTTLE AND GUM FOR EACH DAY.

Please plan for your student to bring a lunch or purchase food from the Cafeteria those days since no outside food will be allowed.

OUR STUDENTS HAVE WORKED REALLY HARD, AND I BELIEVE THEY WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!
