About Me

My name is Cathy Smallwood.  Teaching is my passion because I get to spend my days with amazing students.  Watching them grow and develop during their 4th grade year is very rewarding.  Even when they move into other grades I’m still interested in their lives and future endeavors.

When I graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1987 my first position was teaching 1st grade at Bramlette Elementary in Longview I.S.D. Other grades I’ve taught include 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 8th. At the birth of my first child I decided to be a stay at home mom and didn’t return to teaching until she entered high school.

My husband, Clifton, and I have two beautiful daughters, Carrie and Claire. They no longer live at home, so I miss them a lot!  Our oldest daughter, Carrie, is married to our wonderful son-in-law, Brandon Spaulding, who is a Marine recruiter stationed in Phoenix.  Our youngest daughter, Claire, is in her third year of college at Texas A & M.  We also have two sweet Dachshunds whose favorite activity is being walked through our neighborhood. My students usually hear funny stories involving those dogs during the year.
